Sr. Project Manager

Chicago, IL

Our client is a trading firm with over 30 years of experience, using advanced technology and skilled people to work in markets around the world. They're based in Chicago, but have offices across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. They trade in various asset types, such as Fixed Income, Equities, ETFs, Commodities, and FX.

Your Role:

  • Guide and expedite the completion of end-to-end projects
  • Establish and update project blueprints and supporting documentation
  • Lead standup, planning, and retrospective sessions
  • Negotiate service contracts and garner approvals from both internal teams and external partners
  • Mentor IT Services professionals on how to incorporate project management strategies into their operations
  • Maintain active communication with key trading units and various support, software development, and tech teams to facilitate new business and tech ventures
  • Communicate project updates, including progress and potential risks, to management
  • Ensure coordinated progression of different project streams, identifying and resolving potential hurdles promptly
  • This role is based in Chicago office

Your Profile:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience spearheading large and complex business and tech projects in the trading or financial services industry; experience leading teams is a plus
  • At least 5 years working experience in the trading or financial services industry
  • Well-versed in electronic trading exchanges and co-location concepts
  • Previous experience with software systems, networking technology, and hardware
  • Strong initiative with a track record of successfully driving projects from start to finish
  • Experience leading team meetings, delegating tasks, and monitoring overall project progress
  • Well-developed business acumen and excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Familiarity with PMI Body of Knowledge desired; PMP certification a plus
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and responsibilities effectively
  • Outstanding organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Experience in dynamic, fast-paced work environments
  • Bachelor's degree required.
